Men's Basketball Student Ticket Lottery Information
The 2011 Virginia Tech Men's Basketball team returns an exciting lineup to Cassell Coliseum this season. This year's team will square off against a full slate of ACC teams including perennial ACC powers Duke and North Carolina, and non-conference opponents BYU and Kansas State. As a Virginia Tech student you have the opportunity to turn Cassell Coliseum into a real home court advantage for the Hokies. This is your chance to be part of the action.Once again this season all individual game student tickets will be issued by means of an online electronic lottery. This page will continually provide all the information necessary to sign-up for tickets to each and every home game for the 2011-12 season**. But before we get to the registration instructions, let us give you a brief understanding of how the lottery process will work.
- Bookmark this page. This is your gateway to the lottery process. Completely read the following instructions before continuing to the next page.
- Follow the link at the bottom of the page to be taken to the block selection page. There will be a link for all blocks that are currently accepting registration.
- Click on one or more of the open game links to be taken to our online student verification page. Only sign up for the games that you plan to attend. You will be asked to provide your Virginia Tech PID and your password. This will be checked to verify that you are in fact a full-time student here at Virginia Tech.
- Your personal information will then be displayed and you will be required to verify that information. Once you've had a chance to check it over click on the submit button to enter the lottery. You must enter the lottery for each game available if you wish to attend each game.
- A Sign-Up Confirmation page will be returned. If for some reason your information doesn't check out, you will be returned an error message instead of the Sign-Up Confirmation to let you know what piece of information wasn't verified and what needs to be done to correct it.
- Once the cut-off date has passed, the lottery will be run on all valid submissions. Generally there will be more than one game available during a sign-up period. You must register for each game you wish to attend to be considered for that game's lottery. A separate lottery will be run for each game.
- Once the lottery has been conducted, each individual selected to get a ticket will receive an email. The email message will notify you for which lotteries you were successful. The email will contain a link for the pick-up page. Follow that link to the barcoded pick-up receipt you will use to pick up the tickets. You will only get 1 barcode regardless of how many lotteries you win during a given pick-up period. Your receipt will also have a time listed. That is the time you may come to the coliseum to claim your ticket. Unsuccessful registrations will be retained in the event a second lottery needs to be run.
- Individuals wishing to sit together must give their barcoded confirmations to one person and that person comes to the Coliseum to pick-up the tickets for the group.
- There are no guest tickets available for Men's Basketball.
- Winning registrations will be required to pick-up their tickets within a pre-determined time. Tickets will be distributed at random. Any tickets not picked-up within that time frame will be forfeited and redistributed. If the number of initial lottery submissions is greater than the number of tickets available, then a second lottery will be conducted for the forfeited tickets. Once the lottery pool has been exhausted, if there are still tickets remaining they will be issued to any valid student that has not already claimed a ticket.
- In addition to a student ticket you will need to present your Virginia Tech Student ID card at the gate for admission to games this season. Students without a valid Virginia Tech Student ID card will not be allowed to enter even if they have a student ticket.
